Overview
Interracial Takeover's BNWO systems are built around real-world African geography and CK3's vanilla world. AGOT replaces that world entirely with Westeros and Essos, which breaks IR's geographic assumptions, ethnicity checks, culture definitions, and title structures. This patch adapts every affected system so IR works correctly inside the AGOT world.
What the Patch Does
African Ethnicity — Extended for AGOT
IR's core bno_is_ethnically_african trigger determines who counts as "African" for blood level calculations, skin color, and BBC eligibility. In the vanilla game this covers the standard African and East African ethnicities. In AGOT, the equivalent population are the Summer Islanders — the Jhala'ni and Moluuni peoples of the Summer Islands.
The patch extends the ethnicity check to cover all 50+ Summer Islander ethnicity variants (summer_islander_jhalani_01 through summer_islander_jhalani_50, and summer_islander_moluuni_01 through summer_islander_moluuni_13), ensuring IR's blood and skin color systems recognize Summer Islanders as the AGOT equivalent of African characters.
BNWO Culture — Adapted for Westeros
The BNWO Culture (bnoc) has been adapted for the AGOT setting:
- Court scenes — Uses West African visual assets (
west_african_group_coa_gfx,african_clothing_gfx) which are the closest match available in the AGOT asset set - Innovation history — BNWO culture's technology timeline (
bnoc.txt) has been rewritten against AGOT's innovation tree, progressing through Early Medieval and High Medieval eras at historically appropriate dates (867, 950, 1066, 1150, 1178) - Building graphics — Uses
african_building_gfxandmena_building_gfxfor BNWO settlements
Hegemony of Alkebulan — Relocated to Westeros
The h_alkebulan imperial title (Hegemony of Africa) cannot exist in Westeros as written — there is no Africa. The patch relocates its capital to Dragonstone (c_dragonstone) as an in-world stand-in seat of power for the BNWO Hegemony title. All other creation requirements remain identical to the base mod.
Sailing Innovation — AGOT Override
IR adds the innovation_bno_african_canoes innovation for naval raiding capability. AGOT does not use the vanilla innovation_african_canoes. The patch overrides can_ran_raid_overseas_cultural_innovations_trigger to accept innovation_bno_african_canoes in AGOT's innovation system, restoring naval raiding access for BNWO culture characters.
Religion — AGOT Faith Doctrines
The Church of BBC religion definition has been adjusted for AGOT compatibility. The carn_doctrine_prostitution_accepted, carn_doctrine_same_slavery_accepted, and carn_doctrine_other_slavery_accepted doctrines are conditionally included based on Carnalitas availability, preventing errors when Carnalitas is not loaded alongside AGOT.
Scripted Effects — Slave Flags
IR's slave character flags (blocked_from_leaving, no_headgear, is_naked) are correctly applied and removed through the AGOT-compatible add_required_slave_flags and remove_required_slave_flags scripted effects, which account for AGOT's character flag system.
Church of the Black Cock — Holy Sites
The Church of BBC has been adapted for AGOT with a full set of holy sites spread across Westeros and Essos. Controlling these sites grants faith power and piety to BNWO rulers.
Westeros — The North
| Holy Site | Location |
|---|---|
| Whitetree | Beyond the Wall |
| The Nightfort | The Wall |
| Great Barrow | The North |
| Winterfell | The North |
| Gods Eye | The Riverlands |
Westeros — The South
| Holy Site | Location |
|---|---|
| Sept of Snows | The North |
| Seven Stars | The Vale |
| Stoney Sept | The Riverlands |
| The Great Sept | King's Landing |
| Highgarden | The Reach |
| Starry Sept | Oldtown |
| Hugors Hill | The Stormlands |
| Children's Tower | The Crownlands |
Essos
| Holy Site | Location |
|---|---|
| Pentos Palace | Pentos |
| Pentos Sphinx | Pentos |
| Nontelos | Essos |
| Conclave Palace | Essos |
The distribution of holy sites across both continents reflects the BNWO's ambition to reshape both Westeros and Essos — with a strong foothold in the Riverlands and the Reach where cultural conversion is most viable, and a bridgehead in Pentos as the gateway into Essos.
BNWO Region — The Stepstones
In vanilla IR, the BNWO region corresponds to real-world Africa (world_africa). In AGOT, the Summer Islands — the natural equivalent — are not yet implemented in the mod. As a practical solution, the Stepstones (world_stepstones) have been designated as the BNWO origin region for this patch.
This means:
- The Paragon capital requirement is satisfied by holding territory in the Stepstones
- Wandering BBC migration targets courts accessible from the Stepstones region
- BNWO regional checks (
bno_is_africa_region_trigger) resolve againstgeographical_region = world_stepstones
This will be updated to the Summer Islands once AGOT implements them.
Compatibility Notes
All IR systems are fully functional in the AGOT setting. No features are disabled or degraded — the patch provides complete compatibility between the two mods.
